: whichever character it was who felt the need to narrate the Kings 1 and 2 because they're like a giant shopping list of religious artifacts (who needs 40 red goatskins?)...
real answer: Joseph and his amazing technicolor dreamcoat. I think the OT story would be a lot more interesting without him. And the only person I want to really cut out of the NT is the guy who did the translation for the later Catholic Church, and he's not really a character. but that's just me (and my religion minor) talking, I think.
On that thought, what character (in any book), in your opinion, was the most wasted use of text?
